An ePortfolio by Emily Sutherland

In this section, you will be taken on a tour through my life thus far. You had better be prepared, because there are quite a few emotional breakdowns, broken electronic devices and innocent people who happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. You will also find the names of those whom I consider my biggest influences and support systems. Finally, you will have the privilege of witnessing both cute and not-so-cute photos of me as I navigated the adorable years, the not-so-adorable "Mom, why did you let me leave the house wearing this" years into the "Well, this is as good as it's going to get" time frame I find myself in now.

How to Proceed

These are some of my tips and tricks of the university trade. How I'm surviving and how some of my fellow classmates are surviving (hint: lots and lots of naps). I also allow myself to engage in some philosophical musing and self-reflection, while attempting to come across as a wise and knowledgeable individual. In reality, I am just as clueless as the rest.

How to Succeed in University Without Really Dying

In this particular section of my ePortfolio, you will have the privilege of exploring some of my creative endeavors (mostly short stories, the occasional awful poem). You also will find the drafts of a couple scripts I wrote for various drama projects. This is my biggest passion, and the hobby I enjoy the most. I hope you will too.

This section is designed to provide a general overview of who I am as a person. You will learn about my likes, my dislikes and some of my favourite things. There is also a space where I engage in a small amount of meaningful self reflection. I am warning you now, my brain is a scary place so this section will not be for the faint of heart.

One of my favourite things to do is craft funny little lists that showcase my sense of humour about the general struggles of day to day life. People exhaust me. Which is ironic, considering that every job I've ever worked and every club I've ever joined seems to have an emphasis on people. So I created this little guide to get those who are just like me through all those situations where you would rather be sitting at home, in your pajamas on the couch consuming an entire pizza on your own (in other words, the perfect Friday night).

I wanted to take this opportunity to showcase the more professional side of me. This is an interactive version of my resume, where you are able to explore my qualifications and work experiences as they appear on the document which I send to employers, with the hope that they might decide to hire me.

Just for the record, that is me in that photo on the UW homepage. I just noticed it a few months ago. Maybe my dreams of becoming a celebrity aren't actually that far out of reach.

In this section, I will go into a bit more detail about my life here at the University of Waterloo so far. I will discuss my experiences through my first and second year, my time in residence and my transition into my first real apartment. There also may be the occasional passive aggressive statement directed towards my former roommate, as I am very happy she is gone but sometimes cannot resist the temptation to behave immaturely.
