WHY?

Whe must agree on WHY we do it.

You will not do something the best way only because I tell you to, you will do it because you believe in why we are doing.

We must believe in the same thing to achieve the expected result.

LOGICS:

If you don't believe in what you are doing, you will not do your best

If you don't do your best the product will not be the best it can be

If the product is not the best it can be, you don't believe in what you do

my comments from discussions in disruptive code seminar

- clear goals and missions do not contradict strong wills and opinions, there are different ways and believes of how to reach them but you will understand why which gives your job a meaning - strong wills and opinions can be great for the end result

- the most important is that the top of the company knows what the goals and missions are, if they have different goals no one else will know why they are doing this

- how to visualize the end user to the developer?

Bring them in physically, record the user behaviour, stats

- how to agree on the goals?

*don't tell anyone what to do when they ask for help or make suggestions - ask them back how and why and run the discussion to the end - you get good ideas, they learn why

*set clear goals on all small parts of the business model to let everyone see the importance of each part and be able to understand and make prioritizations themselves

let the developers be part of the biz dev?

Why not? It will take much time, let it in the beginning and see it pay of both in time and quality later on.

It doesn't matter what we say, the project leaders do it their way anyway.

You can't set others expectations. People set their own expectations. Nor can you manage others' expectations, even if they try to convince you that it's somehow your responsibility to manage their thoughts.
