If QR codes are so great..
Why aren't they everywhere in the West?
Packs of stickers allow you to make and place taggable and sharable. I've been using these stickers at networking events and in photobooths.

The question is: when/if Facebook will enter LBSN. If they do, they have already expressed interest in QR and could make it their hook.

Last december, Google distributed 100,000 QR code window stickers to business around the nation. These include Austin locations such as Groovy Lube and the Driskill.

Many magazines and newspapers, including the local Chronicle, have found QR codes to be a way to make print interactive.

Harper Collins publishers are working with QMCodes to help create mobile content for books centered around QR codes.

The codes allowed SXSW attendees to follow one another through SXSW site. But initial arrival at login page put people off.
At SXSW I also ran my own initiative. MARQR spread laminated QR tags all around Austin with incentive to win prizes for scanning. The total project cost me under $50. And it's a good thing too....
Not only did the codes have QR they also used Flook, bit.ly, Stickybits, and google maps.
What did I learn? QR needs to command attention, expectations need to be set low.
SXSW 2010 employed QR codes as a way to cut the paper trail in networking. The campaign had 10,000 scans during the course of the festival but it was not entirely a success...

Just outside Austin, the city of Manor has become a pioneer in using codes. City CIO Dustin Haisler has used the codes to tell about everything from the water tower in what's eating Gilbert Grape to dynamic info on city work projects.
Make the code big enough and give it a margin. Hang it in a well lit area where people will have time to scan it
