What is respiration?!

Respiration is the process of oxidizing food molecules to carbon dioxide and water.

The energy that is released gets trapped in the form of ATP

This is so it can be used by parts of the cell that need energy.

Respiration Equation:

C6H12O6+H20+02----->CO2+H20+Heat

The equation for respiration is the complete opposite of photosynthesis.

Many factors affect respiration such as:

Temperature!

Oxygen

Soil Conditions

Light

Aerobic Respiration

Normal process where food particles are boken down and oxidised to give energy to most living organisms

Most food particles are made to glucose before being respired

Equation for Aerobic Respiration:

C6H12+602-->6CO2+6H2O

glucose + oxygen-->carbon dioxide+water+energy released

Anaerobic Respiration

getting energy from food, without using oxygen

Glucose is converted into lactic acid without producing carbon dioxide or water.

Green plants respire all the time.
