I think the main viewers of our film would be around 15 as it is a 15 however i feel older people would enjoy it too as it has a smart storyline, i feel most of the viewers would be male as there is violence and that is usually sterotyped as a male film.
Our film is rated as a 15 as it contains violence,we choose a 15 because we were unable to include alcohol and drug use like we originally planned to as we felt it did not suit the scenario. I feel a headonist would enjoy this film as it is an Action/Thriller.
when it came to editing we all took turns to edit as we all had experience and wanted to do it. As soon as we put our film on there we decided to make certain parts black and white as we wanted it to fit in with a film noir style but we wanted to make it original so we didnt make it entirely black and white therefore it had our own mark on it.
We asked other people in our class to view our OTS to give us feedback so we could change parts that others felt were not good enough, after changing it our film was reviewed very well.
We shew our OTS to a different media class so we could get a different audience oppinion on our OTS this lead us to edit certain scenes we felt were too long so that they were more compact which therefore created more tension.
We used a digital camera to film our OTS as it is a cheaper technolgy, however it did present a few difficulties as the camera got water on the lense and ruined a few shots, however due to the instant playback feature we were able to see our mistakes and therefore re shoot the scene and therefore improving them. Also it is easier to edit them.
My Blog was a great way of keeping organised as it allowed me to see what i was going to do and what i needed to do, it also is a great advertisement as people reading my blog were able to see what i have done and see my film, therefore geting the clip more views.
We think our clip would be most viewed on the internet for example as a viral or on social networking sites such as facebook, twitter etc.
learning to upload was relatively difficult as i had never used this programme to upload a movie before even though i had prior experience using a different programme, however my group did have experience so therefore it was able to be uploaded quite easy.
Due to the fact our film is a class A film (all british film) we felt we would not get alot of financial backing and therefore we would present our film online, on a ppv site or something similar, we would also put clips on social sites and youtube so that it could get more attention, if this were to work out we could then maybe release it on dvd or in cinemas.
Representation is when a certain social group is represented in a certain way, for example teens are often presented as angry and anti-social and this is a stereotype, also older people are often shown as weak or unable to care for themselves, in our original movie we used representation as we shew teens as careless and ignorant which are usual stereotypes.
Semiotics is when a certain thing is represented b something else, e.g a gun represents danger or power, in our OTS we did not use semiotics as we did not have the opportunity to as the film esculated quite quickly and therfore did not need it as it shocked you it all happend so fast.
We decieded to film our OTS at sophies because its an old looking house and has creepy aesthetics which were perfect for what we were tyring to achieve, it is also quite big therefore allowing some to hide and act creepy which is what we wanted, we used alot of tracking shots to show the creepy side of the house.
The villain in our OTS is quite typical of film noir as she has no movitve to be a bad guy she is just bad, like a film noir bad guy would be, however she is less obvious than a film noir baddy and is quite secretive of how she works and ultimately you do not see him till she actually commits the murder, which is the effect we wanted, also the fact we made the killer female is quite original as it is not often done that way.
Stereotypical-y a hero would be tough manly and big, in a thriller it is often a sleuth or officer of the law, in film noir the hero is often a handsome tough man, we did not use a hero in ours only a villain as it was original and we would introduce a hero type later in the film if we were to continue filming.
digetic sounds
Most film noir films use non digetic sounds, however when using our digital camera the sound came up poorly and obviously digetic, we decieded to get rid of this and use all non-digetic sounds like a film noir film would.
non digetic sounds
Sophie put most of the non digetic sounds on as she felt this was her area of expertese, however we both came up with the idea of what sounds we wanted to use, we used internet sounds to make our OTS filled with tense sounds.
An OTS (opening title sequence) is the clip at the start of the film which people often use to determine weather they will enjoy the rest of the film most commonly passive viewers do this, some OTS show the end of the film at the beggining to add confusion, the OTS is used to sum up who the main characters are or whats going to happen later on, also what genre it is.
Film noir is usually a black and white film with many stereotypical aspects to it, for example a good and bad guy, a damsel in distress, romance and tension, in our OTS we used the black and white aspect, however we wanted ours to be uite original and therefore only used the one character who wasnt a stereotypical film noir bad guy, also ours was quite gritty and therefore less romantised creating more fear and tension which was a bit different.
I think my weaknesses were being able to work better as a group as everyone had different ideas and it took alot of time to agree what we were going to do and where.
I think that at the beginging of the task
we were not as organised as we could have
been however we realised this and soon
organised ourselves and designated everyone
a certain roles, as you can tell form my blog
as one of my roles was to create the costumes.
I think the organisation could
have been better,however we
improved this by setting each
other tasks to fufill.
We started of with researching thriller/ horror
movies then we made a storyboard, and started
to film our clip. We then put this onto a movie
programme so we were able to check the
continuity and if needed were able to change
anything. We then took photos of our location,
and characters.
