DIEGETIC
Diegetic sound is sound which is shown on the screen or presented in the film in action.

NON-DIEGETIC
Non Diegetic Sound is the opposite of Diegetic, it is sound which
is not visble on the screen or heard in the action of the film
examples include
-Narrators Commentry
-Dramatic sound effects
-Music to set the mood

This completes the films continuty it improves the films linking system. It is where the sound from one scene carries on to the other.
-A good example would be the sound of music from one scene carrying on the other.Such as crying in one scene is usually caried on to create a drmatic effect.

Both of thesse sound features help us to create a 3D effect as we hear sounds that we cannot see happening
-An example would be someone going to the toilet but we cannot see them.
In the use of Film/Tv
This is a very important part of viewing a Tv Program or watching a film as it creates a speacial effect and puts you more into the film.
PARALELL SOUND
This is the type of sound or music used in a scene to match the movement or what is happening in the scene it has a good effect on the viewer as it matches the movemnt which clarifies the mood etc.
examples of this include
-A scene where someone is happy and happy music is present such as joyful instruments and sof voice.
CONTRAPUNTALSOUND
This is the opposite of paralell sound, it is where the sound or music played during a scene does not match what is going on, it creates a diverse effect that is not often used.
-A good example would be THE SHINNING (1980) Where old trumpets are played when an exotic island is being scanned.
