1) Character vs. society: Stanley was sitting about ten rows back, handcuffed to his armrest.

2) Character vs. character: “You thirsty? Asked Mr. Sir. Yes, Mr. Sir,” Stanley said

gratefully. Well, you better get used to it.

You’re going to be thirsty for the next eighteen months.

3) Character vs. Nature: And as the truck bounced along the dirt, he was able to appreciate the air blowing through the open window onto his hot sweaty face.
