Sun

The sun is the star at the center of the Solar System. The diameter is about 1,392,684 km. The sun was formed 6 billion years ago within a large molecule cloud

Mercury

Mercury diameter is 3,031. Mercury has no moon. It has a lack of atmosphere, because of that, the temperature rises 800'F while on the dark side it's -300'F. The surface of Mercury looks like our moon.

Venus

Venus is named after the The Roman Goddess of love and beauty. Venus is very hot and no human astronomer can be able to explore its surface. The diameter is about 7520 miles.

Earth

Earth is the only planet that supports lfe. It's about 4.5 billion years old. Earth is a rocky planet. Earth is one of the two planets that contain water along with Venus.

Mars

Mars was named after the bloody red God of ancient Romans. Its diameter is 4200 miles. Mars has the tallest volcano on the Solar System named Olympus Mons. The volcano is 15 miles high which is three times the high of Mount Everest

Jupiter

Jupiter is the largest planet in the Solar System. Astronomers named Jupiter after the King of the Roman Gods. Jupiter has a ring like Saturn and Uranus.

Saturn

Uranus

Saturn is the second largest planet. Saturn has seven rings around it. Its diameter at its equator is 74,600 miles. Saturn was named after the Roman God of arguiculture.

Uranus is named after the Greek God of the sky in Latin. Uranus is known as Ice Giants. It was discovered on 1781 by William Hershel.

Neptune

Neptune is named after the God of the Sea. Its the fourth biggest planet from the 8 main planets. Neptune's core is Rocky.
