To create my Website I look different website building sites. The one I was recommended to look at was Wix. However, this was too basic, as it was for beginners,so it wasn't very customisable. Because of this I looked at other sites and came across XPRS. This website creator was fully customizable and gave you different ways of editing. This meant that you could either use the easy UI or edit the HTML.It also allowed me to create a pop up box which appears after a couple of seconds of opening the page.
In order to create my CD pack I used Adobe Fireworks which meant that I could easily edit them as I was familiar with this software. I also used an app on my phone called Sketch which allowed me to create a basic idea for the CD pack while I was away from a computer. I also tried using Photoshop but I found Fireworks easier to use and it had similar effects to Photoshop. I also had to use Microsoft Excel when printing my CD pack as I couldn't print from Photoshop as the computers at school which were connected to the printer didn't have the latest version installed.
Question 4
When it came to planning I also had to decide which equipment to use. As my video was to be recorded in first person, I needed a way to shoot this. I looked at the GoPro Hero 3, the TomTom Bandit and the Olympus TG-Tracker. After looking at these cameras I realised that they all had similar specs but some had different advantages. The Olympus was the only one which had a built in screen, which meant that I can see what is being filmed. However, this was not necessary as I wanted to record from the protagonists perspective so it needed to be shot from the eye line. The GoPro was the smallest of the three cameras, and came with a head strap, meaning that I could record without having to hold the camera. Also, the GoPro comes with a downloadable smartphone app which connected via bluetooth and gave a live feed from the GoPro's camera. This also allowed me to view the footage straight away and decide which footage was useless. After various research I decided to go for the GoPro.
When it came to the end, after my music video, my website and my CD pack had been done, I decided to try something new. Using a combination of After Effects and Premier Pro I managed to convert my video to be played in Virtual Reality. The video has to be duplicated, and placed in different positions. It also needed to be curved to create the 3 dimensional experience. This can be viewed using either a VR headset or google cardboard. This immersive experience puts the viewer in the music video. The video can be seen on the next slide
After the blog was all set up I needed to do some research in order to make sure that I create the most effective music video possible. When creating the blog posts, and the textual analysis' of music video's, I didn't like switching between multiple tabs so I used my iPad to look up information while I typed it up on my laptop. Thanks to the web 3.0 I also used google photos to easily transfer multimedia between devices. If I was out watching a music video on my phone, I could take a screen shot and it would automatically back it up to google photos, meaning that I could then open the photo up on my laptop. Also, thanks to technological convergence, I could also edit blog posts on my phone, on the go.
Back in 2016 I wasn't familiar with much of the software, or hardware I use now. I could use basic software such as word, and I could set up a blog, but I had never even heard of after effects or premier pro.The only adobe software that I had used before was Fireworks which I used in my GCSE Computer Science.
When the footage was on the computer I used Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premier Pro to edit the footage. I used Premier Pro to align the clips with the sound, and edit the timings. However, I used After Effects to edit any clips visually and then I exported them and placed them in Premier Pro. As Premier Pro locates files and imports them, this means that if I was to edit a clip in after effects, as long as it is saved in the same place with the same name, it will change in Premier Pro. This also works with anything. For example, I realised a typing error withing my titles so I just opened it up in Fireworks and it changed automatically in my video in Premier Pro. When using Premier Pro and After Effects I also used different effects. I used the Color Key in my practice piece which is used to remove specific colours. This is mainly if a green screen has been used. I also used different transitions such as cross dissolve to make the clip slowly disappear, and exponential fade to make the sound slowly disappear.
Finish
After recording the footage I needed to collect it and have a way to transfer it between different devices. Although I could have used google photos, because they were large files I needed a more secure, and quicker way of transferring them so I used a 16GB USB memory stick. This allowed me to transfer footage between my laptop and the various school computers used. I also used a USB type C cable to transfer the footage from the GoPro to the USB stick.
Throughout my research and planning stages I used different software such as Prezi, Blogger and emaze. These allowed me to create interactive presentations which showed my results. I also used the Sony Xperia z5's 23mp camera to take photos for my location shots. However, because I had to film abroad, I had to look at previous photos that I had taken on holiday to decide where to film. Again, I used google photos to view these as all the media was saved in the cloud.
To present this project to both the examiner and other students I had to use a blogging website. I went for blogger. I used blogger last year to present my blog, but I hadn't explored all of the features. However, this year I decided to try new things. I wanted to change the design of my blog by editing the HTML, this is all thanks to WEB 3.0 which allowed me to place a GIF on the banner on my blog. Blogger also allowed me to keep updated throughout every step of the project, as it allowed me to record all the information that I had learned throughout.
