This is a video of how to make a strong bridge!

Hope you enjoy it! :)

  • span (simple, continues cantilever),
  • material (stone, concrete metal etc.)
  • placement of the travel surface in relation to the structure (deck, pony through),
  • form (beam, arch truss etc.),

The four main factors are used in describing a bridge. By combining these terms one may give a general description of most bridge types.

Tacoma Narrows bridge disaster

Tacoma's Narrows bridge collapsed on November 7 1940 at approximately 11:00 AM. Tacoma Narrows bridge's nickname was Galloping Gertie. Construction on the bridge began in September 1938. From the time the deck was built, it began to move vertically in the windy weather, which led to construction workers giving the bridge nickname Galloping Gertie. The movement was kept an eye on even when the bridge opened to the public. Several improvements aimed at stopping the movement although they were ineffective, and the bridge's main span finally collapsed under a 40-mile-per-hour (64 km/h) wind conditions in the morning of November 7, 1940.
