Only a few British indie films make it to USA and get to Hollywood. The most successful film was Trainspotting. It had huge national success but there was curiousity where or not if it would get released in the US because of the use of drugs, violience and distrubing scenes, etc.. But it did and was so successful it released a sequel over 20 years later, worldwide.
In 2014, 698 films were released to cinemas in UK and Ireland. Three companies; eOne, Entertainment and Studio dominant half of the box office that year, highlighting them to be the popular distributors in the UK (along with Working Title). Now those distributors don't release any low-budget independant films. However the UK's most successful independant film is The King Speech but it wasn't released by the famous four British distributors, it was released by Momentum Pictures. Not all films are successful as some don't even make to the editing/post-production or even get a distribution company to help released their films to theatres. However there's other options that are alot cheaper. Film festivals are a good way to get yourself know to other low-budget productions and companies and earn national successful within the UK. Also TV shows and films streaming websites such as Netflix and YoutubeRed help earn online success and colab with the companies on future productions and projects
The average budget for an independant film is $750,000 (£59751.43) Therefore I do think my film would be on similar budget because my largest payment would be cameras, digital equiement and editing and they are very expensive to hire/pay. Furthermore as its modern 21st stalker film so social media is a big factor within the film.
The process of getting films to their audiences by booking them for runs into cinemas and taking them there in vans or through digital downloads; distributors also create the marketing campaign for films producing posters, trailers, websites, organise free previews, press packs, television interviews with the "talent", sign contracts for promotions, competitions, etc. Distributors use their know-how and size to ensure that DVDs of the film end up in stores and on supermarket shelves. Distributors also obtain the BBFC certificate, and try to get films released as the most favourable times of the year for their genre, etc.
Distributors use various marketing tools to help attract and excite the target audience. Teaser trailers and poster help build up the suspense of the film. Social media pages, interviews, extra clips allow the audience to develop an understanding of the film and give the 'behind the scene' exclusives

Fox has the most successes in this genre, which distributed films with similar plot and character/s personalities but back in the 90s/early 00s. Whereas in the past decade Sony has also been successful as the films are more modern to the 2000s and above and the plots are more complex and unique
