Thanks For Watching !!!

By: Sophia Francis and Jessica Melong

What is transportation?

It is the movement of people, animals and goods. There are many different methods of transportation of products, such as:

  • Rail
  • Air
  • Water
  • Road

Disadvantages

  • Traffic delays are common
  • Cargo is more susceptible to be damaged while being transported
  • Bad weather may cause delays
  • Driving regulations may cause delays

Road Transportation

Road transportation is transportation of passengers or cargo by road. When shipping cargo by road you are shipping cargo either locally or further away.

Advantages

  • Fast delivery
  • Ideal for short distances
  • Easy to monitor location
  • Easy to communicate with the driver

Rail Transportation

Rail transportation is transportation by rail or train. This method of transportation also transports passengers and goods, this mode of transportation is similar to road transportation.

When purchasing electronically, the items we purchase can be from several different websites. The merchandise can come from different countries depending on where the products are manufactured. When purchasing merchandise from eBay the country or area where you are purchasing from varies, there is no dedicated area, but regardless of the area or item the desired product that you purchased will eventually be transported to you.

  • More likely to be safely transported
  • Capable of transporting a large amount of products
  • Less traffic
  • Suitable for heavy goods

Advantages

Ship transportation is watercraft carrying people/passengers or goods/cargo. Sea transportation has been the largest carrier of freight throughout recorded history.

Water Transportation

  • Slow and time consuming
  • Hard to monitor
  • Ports are expensive
  • Delays aren't uncommon
  • Customs and restrictions
  • Weather delays are common

Disadvantages

  • High transportation cost
  • Air pollution
  • Connects only major cities, small towns are not covered
  • Limited service between places.
  • Fast delivery
  • Large capacity
  • Safe mode of transportation
  • Reliable

Advantages

  • High speed
  • Transport of costly and light goods
  • Free from geographical constraints
  • Useful for agriculture

Disadvantages

  • susceptible to unpredicted delays
  • Relies on operators/drivers schedule

Air Transportation

Air transportation is transportation by air. Another word for air transportation is aviation.

The commodities we use on a daily basis are transported from around the world. For example, a T-shirt that you might have purchased at your local mall was made in Indonesia, transported from there to Canada, then placed in that store to be sold.

When products arrive from other countries they are then put on trucks to be locally transported to the store where they are going to be sold.

Everything we use on a daily basis was transported some how. It could of been transported using rail, water, air or road transportation. In conclusion, people should be more aware of how the things that they depend on are transported.
