Unit 5 - Quadratic Functions

Solving to Find solutions (x-intercepts)

Graphing Quadratics

Factoring

This is a good place to start

  • Factoring when a = 1
  • Factoring when a>1 (bust the "B" or Bottoms Up)
  • Factoring by Grouping

The Goal of this task is to solve a quadratic function and tell the solutions (x-intercepts)

  • Graphing from Vertex Form
  • (h, k) gives you vertex
  • Graphing from Intercept
  • factored form
  • Graphing from Standard Form
  • use -b/2a

You need to solve the following 3 quadratic functions:

f(x) = x^2 + 2x + 1

f(x) = 3x^2 + 8x + 4

f(x) = -2x^2 - 2x - 4

Solving Quadratic Functions

You can use any method you prefer! You can solve by factoring or by graphing!

  • Solving by Factoring
  • Solving by Completing the Square
  • Solving by Quadratic Formula
