Unit 5 - Quadratic Functions
Solving to Find solutions (x-intercepts)
Graphing Quadratics
Factoring
This is a good place to start
- Factoring when a = 1
- Factoring when a>1 (bust the "B" or Bottoms Up)
- Factoring by Grouping
The Goal of this task is to solve a quadratic function and tell the solutions (x-intercepts)
- Graphing from Vertex Form
- (h, k) gives you vertex
- Graphing from Intercept
- factored form
- Graphing from Standard Form
- use -b/2a
You need to solve the following 3 quadratic functions:
f(x) = x^2 + 2x + 1
f(x) = 3x^2 + 8x + 4
f(x) = -2x^2 - 2x - 4
Solving Quadratic Functions
You can use any method you prefer! You can solve by factoring or by graphing!
- Solving by Factoring
- Solving by Completing the Square
- Solving by Quadratic Formula
