Types of Clouds

Cirrus Clouds

Very large and wispy.

Do not associate with rain.

Cirrus Clouds are usually white, and are

20,000 feet in the air.

Cumulus Clouds

Seen on sunny days,

and may be up to 1,000

meters high

  • Puffy

Cumulonimbus Clouds

Made by Cumulus clouds. They are also about 300 feet off the ground! Yikes!

Known as thunderstorm clouds.

Produce lighting, tornadoes, and thunder.

Stratus Clouds

Stratus Clouds cover the whole sky, and resemble fog.

Mostly grey clouds and they can produce a slight sprinkle of rain. They can be as high as 6,000 feet in the air.
