Paris Peace Conference

What is?

In the Paris Peace Conference the winners of the First World War signed many treaties for the losers countries(like all the things the losers should do because of all the destruction they caused). Each treaty was called with the name of the palace they were written. But when the Conference started, each country had different points of view of what should they do with the countries. It lasted 12 months to get in a agreement. Thirty-two nations were supposed to be represented, but no one from the defeated countries were invited.

Geramy should pay all the reparations to the Allies.

Many of the territories of Germany were taken out and were controlled by the Ligue of Nations.

Germany should acept the blame for starting the war.

This term consist on the army of Germany and had many points...

-Their army was limited to 100,000 men

-Soldiers should be volunteers.

-Germany was not allowed armoured vehicles, submarines or aircraft.

-They only could have six battleships.

-One part of the territory of Germany was transformed into the Rhineland, a demilitarised zone. (This meant that no German troops were allowed to be there) This border was very important because it was the limit between France and Germany.

Treaty of Versails

Germany wasn`t invited to the Ligue of Nations until it shows that it was a peace-loving country.

The most important treaty was the Treaty of Versails and it was for GERMANY. The ones in charge of it were The Big Three, Great Britian, France and the USA. The terms of this treaty were:

Consequences

The most important consequence was, that they created three new countries: Czechoslovakia, Poland and Yugoslavia.

This was signed in 1920 for Turkey . This was very important because this country was in a strategy position.

-Was mostly of the land of the old Austria and a little of Germany

-This country was the possibly the key for the Western Allies in the future.

Yugoslavia

-Yugoslavia was the most complicated of the new states.

-It was made of land of Serbia, Austria-Hungary.

Poland

-Poland was an important state in1600s.

-This country does`t has natural frontiers.

-The new state fought with Rusia in 1921.

Some countries were transformed into free countries or were mandate by British or France control. This countries were Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco.

This treaty was in 1919, was for Bulgaria.

-Austria lost lands and give them to Greece, Romania and Yugoslavia.

-This country had to pay $100 millions for reparations.

-Also they had to limits their armed forced to 20,000

Treaty of Trianon

It was in 1920 for Hungary.

Because of this they lost three millions of their population.

They should pay reparations, but they couldn't because Hungary was very weak.

Treaty St. Germain

It was in 1919, this treaty was for Austria.

-Many millions countries were given freedom to rule themselves.

-They suffered many economic problems.

-This country collapsed in 1918 already in the war.

The Big Three

They were the representatives of Great Britain (David Lloyd George), France (Georges Clemenceau) and the USA (Woodrow Wilson).

David Lloyd George

He was born in 1863. He was the prime minister of Great Britain. In the conference, he didn`t wanted a harsh punishment for Germany because they wouldn`t have enough money to buy Great Britain some products. George also didn`t wanted to have another war in the future.

Woodrow Wilson

He was born in 1856. He was the president of USA, he wanted a more peaceful world, but also he wanted to punish Germany.

Georges Clemenceau

He was born in 1841. He was the prime minister of France and wanted the total destruction of Germany because of the battle they had before the ww1. France also didn`t wanted another war.
