This is the 9 frame snapshot of our music video and we think these shots represent the common features in a music video

Results

these are some of the videos which we took inspiration from

The shot of 'solja boy tell em'(top. centre) getting out of bed of 'turn my swag on' was a good shot because just before the video begins to build up with speed and performance we see him getting up. We replicated this because we felt the idea was genius.

Double click to crop it if necessary

The first shot shows 50 cent in his debut video 'In Da Club' reading his lyrics and recording his hit. We chose to dvelop this convention of music videos because of the effectiveness of the simplicity.

The shot of enimen rapping in the mirror(centre, centre) making sure he is on point. This shot was included because to be taken seriously as a rap artist we had to include shots of Iceburg following the stereotypical mould.

For the third shot we can see Iceburg hard at work perfecting his lyrics. These types of shots are often used in music videos by rap artists to show their audience the process which happens off camera before making a hit single. As a debut artist these sorts of down to earth shots are required so that the potential audience can know more about their artist. The over the shoulder was the best way they thought we could achieve this so we decided to record it and see how effective it was; luckily it worked.

This sixth shot shows that we researched and reinvented shots fact we have appeared in other music videos as it shows a close up of our artist's feet as he performs humorous urban dance moves. In most music videos which contain any dancing performance, there is a close up of the performer's feet moving around as lower body movement is often the focus of dances. This was received as a good choice from our critical audience as many enjoyed this shot as it was different from others perviously used.

The 9th and final shot is a shot to show that we have watched other music videos. This shot portrays was used to the artist's producer and manager in the studio watching him perform, a shot which often occurs up in videos of this genre where an artist is seen in a recording booth.

The close up of Devlin(bottom, centre) rapping and interacting with the camera in 'shot music' was a good concept to include to it allows his audience to be involved with was he is saying and give his performance for meaning and emotion. Iceburg needed an edge like this so we used a simple close up.

The second shot shows our artist just getting out of bed at the start of the song. We thought this would be effective as this shows relationship between the visuals and audio as before things build up the activity of the artist starts off slow. The shot was not a close up as for these types of shots it is very rare to see a close up in this situation.

Notes

The fifth shot that was highlighted was the mirror shot. This is another popular shot in rap videos as to be a believable performer the artist wants to know how they would appear to their audience. We decided to first use a medium then close up of the artist for this particular sequence as variety is an important necessity when using a static location for more then one shot. This shows the more street side of our artist which is what appeals to our secondary target audience of people who enjoy hip hop music.

Shot 7 is a shot typifies what the record company would want their artist to be represented as it depicts our artist playing to the camera. This is because he is just starting out and close ups and interaction are the key to promoting yourself, the record label and artist know this and this is why we see this sort of behaviour in music videos.

The first shot demonstrates our use of camera as it is a high angle shot which focuses on the artist. This shots shows the verisimilitude of studio practise as our artist is rapping with his lyrics in hand. The level was used to make the shot interesting and vary our shots as we used many shots of our artist in the music booth so we tried to monopolise as many angles as possible.

shot 4 shows Iceburg in the middle of a drinking game. This is a slant on many American artists who glorify house parties and drinking games. We chose to use a close up for this shot to impose the realness of our artist to show the target audience he is a average person who does similar activities as they would. This follows the concept of the rest of the video of showing stereotypical teenage behaviour.

the seventh is a casual shot our artist 'rocking his beats'. This close up of Iceburg wearing a highly acclaimed pair of headphones would have been a choice the record label would have made; this is because many artist who have signed with Atlantic records endorse Dre beats. As promotion and expossure is crucial we decided to not only shows cunning advertisement but, also pay attention to theory of Goodwin. Because at points there is a relationship between lyrics and visuals we decided to incoperate the headphones shot when the lyrics were "walk into college with your headphones on".

The shot of Asher Roth drinking at a house party typifies teenage behaviour which we chose to take a step further and show our artist being the crazy party animal. This was to show that he is human like the rest of us and wants to have a good time.
