How did we do this?

The flash back technique is vital to our film as throughout there is a sense of dramatic irony this comes from the audience knowing what is happening while our main character Sarah has no idea what is going on around her.

We use the Black and White effect in our flash back as it catches the viewers attention which will help them to understand the story line.

We also use a voice over in this part of the film which helps the viewer recap on what has happened and makes it very clear for them to understand.

Shot Type

Edits

Throughout the editing process of our film we did not spend as much time as we should have on collecting audience feed back. This meant when we put our second to final copy of our film out we had a fair amount of advice and critique our audience recommended we changed or added.

We chose a variety of edits in our film one of the most important one a black screen which says '5 years later' this was suggested by several viewers on one of our drafts, we took this comment on board and changed it.

Over all the response we have had from our audience has been positive, the use of digital and social media has been vital for the asking and receiving of feedback from our film. The only problem we have encountered when posting links to feedback forms on social networking sites is people not taking it seriously, giving answers for the sake of it not paying attention to the film, if even watching it at all. However the positive feed back we have gained from other people makes us proud of our final film and please with the responses. We can now say we have created a film which has met the demands of our target audience and even though there are a few mistakes we have made along the way we are please with our final film.

A variety of shots were used to show the characters personalities, we kept the camera looking slightly down at 'Leah' our deviant character and on a natural level for Sarah.

We changed our male character for a female and made our story line less complex. This also enabled us to create a more specific target audience of females.

The use of repetition was vital throughout our film to ensure the viewer knew what was going on. The main thing we had to repeat was the double headed coin being shown, this was to remind the viewer at every opportunity that the coin was special and had the most significant role in our film.

Ensuring our characters came across clearly ..

After changing our certificate from a 12A to a PG it was even more important that we portrayed our film in a way which ensured it was easily understandable for people of all ages

Google Questionnaire

Stage 2

Once we decided what the genre of our film was going to be, we created a questionnaire using google docs, this was an easy, simple and efficient way of gathering information for both us and the respondents. Google Docs provided us with a pre-done spread sheet with peoples responses to our questionnaire .

Stage 1

Stage 3

The first thing we did when deciding to create a film was research into what makes a good short film! We wanted our audience to enjoy and be entertained by the film we made so the research we carried out and the feedback we got was very important to us.

How has the audience effected the way we have edited our film?

Once we had our audience feed back we had to make changes to our story line, there wasn't enough depth in it, this lead to us using the feedback we got to create alterations to not only the storyline but the certificate too.

The Original Brief

From our original idea our film plan has evolved and adapted a lot, this has been to meet audience demands from all of our feed back.

Close Ups

Close up shots were vital to our story line to help the viewer understand exactly what was happening at each stage of our film.

I feel the film we have created is successful, we have reached our target audience and provided them with and enjoyable and entertaining film. Our film not only reaches our target audience it has broken some stereotypical genre conventions and has given us an insight into the work that goes into the planning, production and distribution of film making. People have interpreted our film in their own way which is pleasing as it means everyone gets the most out of what we have created. This is reflected in the audience feedback, without taking the time to get audience feed back we would not have been able to create a film which is not only of a high standard but entertaining and desirable to a wide audience.
