The choice of costume for both models

is very important as it is a significant

factor in terms of mise-en-scene!

As part of my research into initial costume ideas I basically searched different options of clothing using Google Images. This provided to be very useful as it gave me a rough idea about how and where I can get these different styles and how suitable certain costumes are to the ideology I want to convey. There are two different approaches I can take for choosing the ideal costumes.

Using actual costumes from

fancy dress shops (either

bought or rented)

This style could be appropriate

however I think it does follow

more of a western style. To

avoid confusion to the

audience it will be more simple

to use a more casual costume.

This style is very conventional

of the country genre, the use of

a hat for a prop could be useful

during my video and emphasis

to the audience the style of the

text. Also this costume is very

casual which is important as

I want to focus on the natural

simplicity of the model.

The main feature of this costume

I like is the boots however the look

could be improved by using brown

leather styled boots making it

more country. The costume itself

is more for fancy dress and follows more

of a modern interpretation of the country

genre.

Recreating certain images

and styles by putting

together different

clothing and buying

certain props.

The cost of this dress is $45.99 which is

exceeds the budget i want to spend on

creating a music video however the style would be appropriate for the country genre.

This blouse is perfect for my music

video as it is casual and cheap to buy.

The only problem is that the colour is

black which could connote the wrong

messages to the audience. For example

dark and negative characteristics of the

model.

To further research different costume ideas I used a camera to take pictures of my model wearing country styled outfits from home which would definitely help my budget. I found this research very useful as it made me realize I did not have to buy specialist costumes for my music video to show the country/pop genre.

A classic chequered shirt and denim shorts has a country appeal and conveys a relaxed working feeling to the audience. This outfit is conventional of the modern country style however the pattern of the shirt is actually traditional which is important as it allows the audience to relate my modern music video with the old country genre.

This dress could be very effective as a costume during one of my locations as the colours of the item of clothing work well together adding to natural style. Also the colour scheme could be associated with this dress as I am shooting my music video during the autumn term. Finally the dress is very feminine; this is of great importance to the narrative as the model should play the part of a tragic heartbroken individual.

My genre is a cross between Pop and Country however the majority of the content and mise-en-scene of the music video will be based on the country aspect.
