We introduces this so that the audience could see the facial expressions of the protagonist so that they were able to relate to him a lot more.
We were also advised to add more lip syncing shots to ensure that the audience know who the performer is. Me and Lily filmed the lip syncing shots when we filmed the close ups in the outdoor night time scene. This allowed the video to relate to more video conventions, making our video more like a realistic music video. All these additional elements that were added to the second draft originated mostly from feedback. Therefore feedback played a huge part in our video production.
Our final video feedback was received mainly through the web. As we uploaded our video to youtube, we were able to use google’s static analysis to see where the views came from, what age range they were, their sex, where they found the video from ect. This kind of feedback is really useful as we are able to check to see if we are meeting out target audience or not.
For my ancillary, I receive feedback from Lily, giving my ideas of what I could experiment with. I found this kind of feedback very helpful as it gave me different ideas of what I could experiment with. Other ancillary feedback I received was on my analysis of other digipaks and posters. This helped me understand other conventions that could be thought about when producing my ancillary.
Overall feedback taught me how to take criticism and opinions and turn it into something productive. I also learnt how feedback is, because of the amount of things that was changed in out music video due to recieving feedback.

The technology I mainly used to get feedback was websites such as blogger, Facebook, and twitter. The reason I decided to go with a much more web 2.0 based approach was mainly because it allowed me to upload projects I needed feedback on, and get feedback almost instantly because of it’s ease of use. The most helpful means of feedback was the comments on the blog. The comments on the blog allowed us to upload work, and have other students or teachers comment on the post giving their advice and support.
First Draft FeedbackAfter submitting the first draft of our music video, the general consensus off our teacher was issues relating to the protagonist, Hewitson River. Hewitson River was being portrayed as annoying, and arrogant (which was non intentional). This was extremely helpful advice, as we were able to use our teacher as an audience member getting his honest opinion. After receiving the feedback, we reviewed our video with a critical eye, taking into account the opinions of our teacher, we could understand why the protagonist was coming across as annoying, and take corrective action. This feedback was the reason we decided to add more of a narrative to our video so that our audience would relate to our protagonist. We included a ‘tea party’ scene where the audience can see Hewitson River being ignored, becoming angry and rebellious. The audience is able to make their own connotations from this scene in order to make understanding of the rest of the video, for example the reason he get’s duplicated maybe perhaps because he is lonely, or maybe he is simply going mad. Later, the narrative flowed into the rotoscoping scene where he is walking through the grave yard, this explains why he is there for the rest of the video.
After changing the video, we went back and got more feedback from our facevook audience
In conjunction to narrative and rotoscoping, we added close-ups to several shots, such as the outdoor singing scene:
