Finding Winnie won the Caldecott award in 2016. It tells the story of Captain
Harry Colebourn and his pet bear, Winnie. On his way to war, he found a baby bear and paid $20 for it. They went on adventures across Canada and the Atlantic. Winnie, who was named after Winnepeg, became the mascot of the Second Canadian Infantry Brigade. When they were called to fight in WWI, Harry made a decision to find Winnie a new home... as we all know, Winnie the Pooh was friends with Christopher Robin, so I'll let you read the story to see how how he made his way into The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh by A.A. Milne.
The back of the book has photographs of the real life Christopher Robin and Winnie as well as some of the illustrations from the book.
