In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media product?

conventional opening squences are where they try to establish atmosphere, give us a hint of the narrative and even create engima . An example of this would be the opening squence of Memento.

The unborn is also a conventional thriller/horror as it has a conventional victim and disturbed character. It also creates a sense of enigma when the little boy says 'He wants to be born now' the audience wants to know who 'he' is this creates mystery and sucpicion.

The genre of our film is a 'Thriller' shown by the conventional things we have used with in our opening such as creating an atmosphere and giving a hint of there narrative showing our main victim charcter and the disturbed character. We created enigma by using the shadowed lighting on our hidden disturbed chracter this creates mystery as we keep wanting to more into the story. We give a hint to the narrative by showing the ending to the film first then going back 3 months previously to show the audience why our main character has become so distressed and ended up in this way.

Coventional Trillers include stereotypical detective character, disturbed character and even victims. In our film we have used conventional thriller characters shown here is a image of the victim with in our film. Our main character is a popular young women who is very glamorous as you see by the use or satorial code our chacter compared to another main character who is also shown as a popular character. How ever in the beginning of our opening you cannot teel the young girl as being popular as she is in alot of distress, this creates some mysetry of who this character may be or may have been previously. We have also shown our character at her worst which is conventional of distressed or victim characters within many thrillers.

When we filmed in the drak room we used professional lighting borrowed from our drama department to help create the dark lighting effect. The use of lighting helped show us the stalkers figure without showing his face showing that he his hidden identity and shows us he is mysterious dark character. We used the lighting to create shadows to hide our stalker this creates suspicion for our audience as they want to find out more about the hidden character.

We was only allowed to use the loctaions with in the school grounds so we used all the locations we had in our school to our advantage by using places such as the dance space, science corridors and also the photography dark room. As well as that we borrowed some of the schools professional lighting to create the right effects we wanted with in our film.

The title of our film is called 'Broken Beauty'. We called it broken beauty because it links very much to the narrative of our film as the young girl who is our victim is very pretty and popular but by the end she goes mental and is put into a mental instiution showing that she had been broken mentally after all she has been through. The idea of 'broken' is conventional in thrillers as many victims are shown strong untill something happens and we see them at there worst. The theme of broken is not something physical but more of an emotion within the conventional characters.

Our font style was a smashed effect which linked well to the title of the film and also the production company that is called 'Smashed Mirror Production'.

As many conventional thriller openings they show the main characters first we have also done this in our thriller opening. Our story starts at the end and then goes through what has happened previously. Thrillers that have also done this are Memento, Tormented and many more by showing the main charcters first and also showing us the end of the film in the opening squence.

Passionate ballet dancer Chloe Taylor had it all; popularity, beauty and the perfect loving boyfriend Matt. Her life was perfect, until one day she received an anonomous text. At first chloe took no notice of it, assuming it was a prank from one of her many "Frenemies". However as time went on, the texts which Chloe has been receiving has progressively worsened to a state of which it shows photos of Chloes whereabouts. This leads to Chloe becoming more and more paranoid, thinking there is someone out there watching and stalking her. Chole seeks help from her trusted loving boyfriend Matt but he reassures her that she is probably over thinking and so ignored her pleas for help, however this did not put Chloe at peace. Chloe decided to put an end to this as she trys to find the origin of the threat. It turns out to be her current boyfrind Matt which have been sending the texts all along. He originally attended the same school as Chole, and had attempted to commited suicide when his love for Chloe was not returned, whats worse is that he was actually one of Choles victim of bullying and now he is back for revenge. This ends in Chloe going mental and is sent to a psychiactric hospital.

This is our thriller opening showing how we used the ending of our story at the beginning of the film.
