Q2- How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
We used the colours turquoise and vibrant for the logo
throughout both advertisements which
we felt would acheive a good combination
as both peices contained similar branding.
We used similar photos for both the album and magazine advertisement. Both have elements of punk e.g Tie around head, black bar over eyes both indicate anarchy or aggression in a punk style.
We tried to make both very simple with strong imagery that displayed our genre concisely.
The same character is used throughout all 3 final products. However the digipak version of him is much more similar to his aggressive side shown at the end of the music video. His tie pulled to the side in a rebel, punk style. This makes it recognisable across products.
Using both the logo, same colourway
and same character we have created a
recognisable band and an effective
combination to market them.
The importance of this combination
is it represents who the band are and how people will perceive them without listeing to their music.
They must appear positive in the target audience's perspective
The digipak must not mis-represent the band, otherwise the target audience are less likely to purchase product based on packaging, and so it must be clearly directed at a specific audience
