Evaluation for music magazine

Question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

I believe that i have used some products of media in my product i have achived this goal from analysing different music magazines and have used some of their techniquis for my own product

i have used conventions such as buzz words, puffs, copy,anchorage text, pugs and drog capitals they have all been applied to either my front page spread, contents page or double page spread

all magazines have a masthead which is applied to most pages within the magazine and i have incorporated this with my magazine front cover, contents page and double page spread.

Question 2

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

my music magazine is aimed at people who like indie rock type of music and are between the ages of 16-25

the socialgroup i have chosen listen to bands such as the arctic monkeys and the killers.

i have addressed the clothig range worn by this social group. I have made sure the clothing of the people in my images are related to the social group i am creating my product for. the clothing in the genre ranges from checkered shirts, skinnie jeans and long beanie hats.

I believe this is an up and coming social group and this is why i have decided to represent indie/rock because i believe their is a gap in the market for this style of magazine.

Question 3

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

My media product could be distributed in many ways and by many companies around the country or even around the world.

It could be distributed in the following ways-

- Iternet social networking sites such as facebook or myspace

- Music stores such as HMV

- Newsagents/ superstores

- Gigs/ Festivals

Internet social networking sites would be a good option becuase this is one of the largest growing type of media.

I believe that using newsagesnts and superstores wouldnt be the best option because they havnt got good experience in selling my style of product and dont have a wide range to attract an audience.

using music stores would be a good option becuase they sell lots of music magaines and they have experience in distribution of music magazines

i believe that gigs/ festivals would be a good place to distribute my music magazine, this is because it would only be sold at gigs that are related to the genre of my magazine so it would reach my audience well.

Question 4

Who would be the audience for your media product?

i believe that anybody that is interested in music magazinesand the content of them would be interested in my product. people who are interested inupcoming gigs, tours, festival information, and even competitions or puzzles.

the audience i am targeting is the indie rock audience i believe this audience needs a new magazine to keep things fresh and up to date

Question 5

How did you attract/address your audience?

To attract my audience i have used certain conventions which i have stated in question one. they include special features and buzz words. i have done this on my front cover, contents page and also my double page spread.

I have done this on my front cover by using a puff to advertse T- in the park festival. Being involved in this genre i know that this type of article would attract a good audience

Question 6

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

I believe i now have a better understanding of adobe photoshop.

i had little knowledge of this when i first started the course and

now believe that i have a decent understanding of it. i do not know all there is to know about it because it is a complicated product to get used to.

I have also become better at photography as the course has gone on becuase i have learned how to position the people or objects in the picture which will make my pictures look better.

Question 7

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

The preliminary task that was set was to produce a front cover and a contents page for a college mgazine. i made the college magazine on publisher and the music magazine on photoshop and the quality is obvious.
