Thin Lizzy

Lead by Phil Lynot, Thin Lizzy was founded in 1969 in Dublin and this band was one of the few mixed-race bands to make succes in its time. Also they unusually had fans and listeners from both Northern and Southern Ireland and the U.K and are still thought of as a 'classic rock' band. The Origin of their quirky name was when they saw the 'Blues Breakers and Eric Clapton' album cover in which Eric is holding a copy of the Beano comic book, and used this as inspiration. They thought of the name 'Tin Lizzy' (which was a character from another comic strip), but in the end agreed on 'Thin Lizzy' because of how the Irish accent pronounces them the same !
