What technologies you used to exhibit and distribute your film and how this differs with 20 years ago.
We have used a broad range of technologies in order to make our film, these both include hard and software. We used a simple video camera to film our footage and imported and edited our film using IMovie on the apple mac. We have also used the internet to do our research on our project and eblogger to blog our process.
We used a selection of websites in order to get a good knowledge of our sub genre before we began plan our final product. To begin our planning we found some useful websites to help us, such as www.IMDb.com which helped us to decide who was going to be our target audience and what was going to be our age certificate (www.bbfc.org.uk) to help us with appropriate use of language and violence. We also used wikipedia and production company webistes and you tube to decide on the stereotypical characters and plot lines that establish the psychological sub genre.
In conclusion, I feel as though we have been very successful in producing and making a film using the technologies accessible to us. The access to a camera, the internet and the software provided on the apple macs have helped us achieve a successful project. If we didn't use the technology we had I don't think we would of been able to produce that much of a successful film, I think it would of been of a much lower quality and badly filmed if we didn't use the technology we did use. Overall, I am very pleased with our final project and I am very happy with the technologies we used to help us come this far.
The internet has helped our research in to our sub genre to create an appropriate film for our target audience. We was able to watch clips and trailers in order to recognize what we needed to include in our final product. The camera helped us as it was appropriate for our shooting. It is portable and small enough to be able to carry it around in order to get to our location to film. The quality of the film is good as the picture was sharp and well focused. We used IMovie on the mac as this helped us pin point everything we needed to get rid of and keep in order to create a successful film. We was able to add SFX to make our film that little bit better.
To edit our film, we used iMovie HD on the apple mac which was surprisingly easy to use and understand. To begin with we cut out all unwanted pieces of footage for our film to make sense. We did this by making our film have continuity whilst still having a range of shot types to keep our film visually interesting to our audience. For our titles, we wanted to add some SFX to make it more exciting and enjoyable to watch. We did this by adding shaky jump shots in order to want our audience feel on edge and want to watch the rest of the film.
We used Adobe PhotoShop to create our logo and poster for our film. We did our research and collected our ideas from other films and our plot line in order to create a successful poster. We downloaded a standard type writer font to link in with our titles and used a tea stained back ground to link in with the historical features and the cup of tea she goes to make within our sequence. We used ink spillages to link in with the type writer and blood splatters to show warning and danger throughout our film. We kept it quite simple as we didnt want to give too much away. We mainly used blogger to distribute our film as anybody is able to view it. Compared to 20 years, we have a wider range of options for distribution for example youtube, social networking websites etc.
We have used a software called Reason to make our soundtrack as this gave us a broader range of sound effects we wanted and needed for our film to create the affect we wanted from our audience.
