Now we'll listen to Simon discussing pros and cons of travel with his friend.

Try to remember some new words to understand what they are speaking about.

"Each of these forms of transportation have their pros and cons."

'Pros and cons' is another way to say 'positives and negatives.'

"The disadvantages of the plane is the lack of view and that stale air."

'Stale air' does not feel fresh. It feels like it has recirculated many times.

"You can move around on a train, whereas you're stuck in a car."

When you are 'stuck' someplace, you can't move to where you want to go.

"When you travel by train, you're confined by schedule; when you travel by plane, you're confined to a small space. "

If you are 'confined' to something, you are restricted by its limitations.

"The pros of traveling by car would be mainly freedom. "

When you have 'freedom,' you can do whatever you want, whenever you want to do it.

Do you know these words?

to sail

to fly

to walk

to drive

to hitchhike

to cycle

Most of the Australian towns and cities are situated on the banks of the rivers or at the coast.

So one of the most suitable means of transport is a ferry.
