A New Discovery in Astronomy
A small planet, about 4.5x bigger
than Earth, could be possibly
inhabitable. Although it's in a
triple-star system, it travels around
them in a rather cool zone.
It take Super-Earth about 28 days
to make 1 full revolution. It has at least one super-Earth companion orbiting on a tighter orbit in just 7.2 days.
The 3 stars that this revolves around
are just 3 little orange dwarf stars. These stars have only a quarter of the heavy elements that our Sun possesses, depleted in some of the metal-rich ingredients that go into planet building.
This planet is thought to absorb the same amount of sunlight that our Earth does, though in the form of infrared radation. Traveling in a habitable zone puts Super-Earth as the best canidate to support liquid water.
Astronomers from the European Southern Observatory have found that, even though Super-Earth is a small planet, the 3 stars that it revolves around are even smaller that there are small tugs on the stars from the planet's gravitational pull.
sooo... I'm kind of learning from this too.
