In what ways does my newspaper ue, develop or challange forms and conventions of real media products?
In my newspaper and page 2 I used certain aspects of local newspapers and national newspapers to create an authentic modern looking paper which looks real to life and follows the main conventions that you would find in your own local news.
The main layout of my paper, fonts, colours and story type were my main focus when trying to recreate a newspaper with my own personal flare, which still fit in with the conventions found in papers like The News and The Sun.
Bold and clear Masthead
Clear fonts, picture and headline.
Bold basic and understandable adverts
When looking at the inside of my paper (page 2) I tried to imitate the inside of The News to the best of my ability. By using and developing the content which I was working off I was able to make a inside page that I am proud of.
I created the entire page myself from scratch using InDesign. When creating this page, i took influence from the weather section featured in The News and the advert at the top for what else the newspaper features.
I feel that the overall image of my newspaper fits in well with the normal conventions that you would find in any local newspaper.
The stories and content of my paper, fit in with the normal conventions of local newspapers. They are all local news stories, which i made up about local people in the local area.
So not only do i feel that the layout, design, and images use the conventions of everyday news papers i have made sure that the stories do to. Both my front page and page 2 are themed , in the way of colour and text and flow well together, much like The News.
I do not feel that I have challenged the conventions found in newspapers, I feel that if I had challenged these then my product would not be an authentic looking product and would not be as attractive to my reader.
