Effect

Digipack

This image demonstrates a link between the music video and the digipack, by utilising the same location to create a sense of consistency. On the back of he digipack, there's lyrics to their most known song. What this does is help to make the artist more iconic, by capitalising on what they're most known for. By including the band members in the digipack, audiences are able to put a face to the music, which also relates to our music video, because they're in the performance shots.

Connections

Example

The combination of the main product and ancillary tasks have resulted in our chosen artist being advertised in a variety of different media platforms, as a way of creating quite a wide target audience. For example, a person might not watch the music video but may see the digipack in a shop. By increasing the amount of ways the artist is published, we have invited them to a more mainstream market.

As a group, we wanted to make sure all of our products tied in with one another, to establish that, despite the fact they are different formats, all 3 of them come from the same artist. We achieved this by using shots we took on location and applied them to our ancillary tasks. We also made sure we followed the same stereotypical conventions that we applied while filming our music video. For example, the dark filter helps to connote quite a dark and rebellious tone, which is mirrored in all three products.

Effect

How effective is the combination of the main product and ancillary tasks?

Because this magazine advertisement has the same setting, typography and layout as the digipack, audiences make the connection between them, as a way of making the product itself more memorable. The proportions of this are wider than the digipack, and scaled to fit the size required for standard magazine advertisements. By designing it to fit landscape across a page, it would be longer, and we believed that would grab audience's attention more easily, which would help to sell the product.
