Nutrition

Growth Redardation

-Malnutrition: Lack of proper nutrition

Leads to undevelopment and diseases

-Dietary excess: Childhood Obesity is rising

- Obesity causes over 300,000 deaths a year

Physical Activity

Positives:

-Permotes muscle development

-More muscle less fat

Negitives

-Increase in sports can have a negitive effect and actually hurt some kids muscles/bone ex) Runner's Knee

Life Style

Secular Trends have resulted in generational changes

Kids are becoming: Taller, Heavier and sexually mature faster

This is manily in developed countries

Illness

To retard growth depends on the duration, severity and timing of the disease

Differentation

Progession of the gross overall movement of an infant

Coordinated interaction of opposing muscles and sensory systems

Early Childhood:

-Assume everyone thinks like them

-Less conforming

-Fearful of new situations

Later Childhood:

-Team waork improves

-Adventurous

-Aggressive

-Growth of 2 in and 5lbs a year

-Boys and Girls are fairly similar

-Still learning skills such as skipping

-Have more energy

-Growth Slow and steady

-Girls generally ahead of boys

-Fundamental skills and most manipulative
