I had to take a wide range of photos for my magazine so I learnt how to take more professional looking photos the further on I got. I discovered new functions and features on my camera as well as learning how to use studio lighting a lot better. I got introduced to new types of shot angle to improve the overall look of my images as well as looking at facial expression which improved my images too as they appealed to people better.
This is the tool I used first to try and remove the white background behind text and images. It doesn't work that well though especially when I have to use it with text and numbers like on the movie poster I had to make.
I then found out about the magic wand tool, this is a lot better to use as you can outline shapes a lot better and remove the background that way. This is what I used now to remove backgrounds as it was a lot better as an end result and a lot easier to use.
In photography I found out about this dodge tool, it makes background completely white and removes impurities on the background too. It uses a bleaching effect and makes it look more professional.
I then came across the clone stamp tool in photography too, this removes impurities on the models skin and I used this to remove spots on the models face.
For my video I filmed when I filmed a target audience members response to my magazine I needed to edit it as there was a lot of long pauses in the video as we took it in one take so it was a natural response. I used iMovie on the mac to do this.
Being More Media Rich
I took the video on my canon digital SLR camera and then uploaded the video on to iMovie and then began editing by dragging different parts of the clip into the editing bar along the top and I could choose which parts of the video to remove or shorten.
I have found a lot of websites during my coursework to make my work really media rich, I hadn't heard of blogger, prezi or powtoon before so I was completely new to using them. I needed time to get used to them but they were pretty easy to use and made my work look a lot better as my text wouldn't be all presented in a text format. This let me present my work in a much more media rich way as I could include pictures, links and animation and my work looked a lot better in this format.
I wanted to edit it well so the viewers would find the video more interesting and appealing. My video ended up not being too long either so viewers wouldn't get bored or loose interest.
I couldn't work tools such as the magnetic lasso very well to remove white background.
I also learnt to use shapes from photoshop instead of copying them across from powerpoint.
Since September I have learnt to use photoshop a lot better. This is my very first attempt and compared to the magazine I have just made there are so many improvements. I have learnt to use the editing tools much better over time and made my magazine look more professional overall.
