Question 1
In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions
of real media products?
My trailer challenges forms and conventions
because more often than not the role of a
terrorist in film is usually male, I decided to
go against this sterotype and use a woman
for this role.
My trailer uses forms and conventions that are
present in other trailers - I included various titles
that are seen in most trailers, such as, actors names,
film title, director etc.

My poster follows forms and conventions used on other media products; the actors names are on other film posters so I decided to include them. The directors name is featured on posters, therefore I also added this onto my poster. The date of release is in a bigger font size to the rest of the text because this is an important piece of information and should grab the audience's attention. A website is included on most film posters so I included on on my poster.
My magazine cover uses form and conventions
of real media products because I wanted it to look
as much like any other magazine as I could. I
included a barcode and price on the bottom of
the cover, this is the same as other magazine covers
I have looked at.
On the bottom of my magazine
cover I put a banner featuring other films and
exclusives, most magazines do this because it appeals
to a wider demographic. I used buzz words such
as 'Exclusive' and 'Plus' to entice the audience
and make it look more realistic.
Question 2
How effective is the combination
of your main product and ancilliary
texts?
In my opinion the combination of my trailer, magazine cover and poster work well together.
My trailer, magazine cover and poster all have features that group them together. The main connection between them is they all have a corresponding colour scheme. I wanted the colours to be red and white because red gives the connotations of danger and so when the audience saw my products they would know they were related becuase of these themes.
I used the main actress as the main image for my magazine cover and poster, this was so the audience would recognise the film immediately, my trailer is widely focused around this actress so the audience will recognise her straight away.
Question 3
What have you learned from your
audience feedback?
The audience feedback I received was very useful because it allowed me to know what changes to make to my products to make them better.
I showed a year 10 Media Studies class my trailer and asked them if they had any questions or comments. One comment that was made was that the green screen which was originally at the end of the trailer should be at the front. I agreed with this comment and now it is at the beginning of the trailer.

We put the original version of our trailer on youtube and some comments were given such as:
carltongirl1: Liked your establishing shots, confused at the end though shouldn't those titles be at the beginning?
Like the story and the music, works well! Clear what the story is and some good shots of the train.
Cranlee: A sound narrative trailer with good use of captions and appropriate music which built the tension. perhaps some of the shots were dwelt upon too long and the news broadcast lacked authenticity. However, The shots of th girl in town followed by the over the shoulder anonymous note created suspense. I'd go to see the film on the back of this trailer.
After listening to these comments I changed the trailer so that the green screen was at the end. To see my trailer please follow this link:

Question 4
How did you use new media technologies
in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
I used a Samsung video camera to film my trailer, it also allowed me to take photos for my cover and poster. This was the same as I had used for AS coursework therefore I knew how to operate the camera.
To edit my trailer I had to use the iMovie software, I had never previously used this software, however I found it easy to use and enabled me to edit my trailer without any problems.
I used photoshop to create my magazine cover and poster, I had used this before for my AS coursework. This was an advantage because it meant I already knew how to use it so no time was wasted trying to work out how it worked.
Before making my evaluation I had
never used the prezi software before.
However I found it very easy to use and
was able to create an interesting way to present my evalaution.
Once I had completed my film trailer we put it on to youtube to enable the audience to make comments, we also put up a video of our audience feedback, youtube is an easy way to upload videos so we didn't have any problems in this area.
