What To Do

Do's & Don'ts During Interview

  • Good impression. No loud jewelry,

piercings & strong perfume

  • Punctual
  • Turn off your phone
  • Stay calm and confident
  • Greet panel. Introduce self, firm handshake & smile

  • Address panel with Mr. or Ms.
  • Avoid chewing gum.
  • Let the panel lead the interview. Take time to think and answer confidently
  • Be enthusiastic and give positive answer.
  • Listen to questions carefully, ask for clarification if necessary
  • Ask questions
  • How many people working at the moment?
  • What is the next step?
  • Thank the person. Shake hand. You may also leave your business card.

  • If you haven’t heard back from the employer, call back at the end of the day to follow up
  • If the date is not specified, wait till 2 weeks, then call to know the status.
  • If you are hired, ask on these details;
  • When to start
  • Where and at what time should you come on the first day?
  • What is the name of the person I should ask for?
  • Do I need to bring any special work material or clothing?
  • Your duties and responsibilities
  • If you failed:
  • Try to find out why and improve

Preparing for an interview

What to bring?

  • Resume & Cover Letter (for the panel(s))
  • Copy of Diploma & portfolio (if appropriate)
  • Paper & Pencil – for note taking
