For my point of divergence I have decided
from the research I have done that I will be taking the following people out of the NAACP, they are WEB. Du Bois and Ida B wells Barett. These to people gave have contributed alot of different things and people that they havehelped has been remarkable.
Web. Du. Bois was one of the most influential people in the NAACP and he had many accomplishments while being involved he was in charger as a co founder of the group. He had been involved with the niagra movement and he was one of the first African Americans to go to Harvard and get a PHD. He was also involved in a lot of civil rights and race riots where he got many people on the colored side to bring in more power because DU Bois was familiar with many people and he felt as though he could get many different people on their side this would work for a long time but eventually funding was not in the best interest for the NAACP.
Ida . B Wells was a remarkable woman not only did she fight against discrimination based on race but she also fought against discrimination based upon gender Ida B Wells was not fighting for one indecency but she was fighting for two.
POD #1
In 1892 three of Ida's friends were lynched. Names Thomas Moss Calvin Mc Dowell and Henry Stewart, they owned a grocery store and their store was located near a white own business and it was affecting them. The white business owners were inferiated by the lack of business they were getting so they decided to attack their business but while this haooened the balc owners fought bak creating a small war where one of the whote men were killed this led to the lynching of the black men. This was a big wake up call to the people in the south they were furious with what occured they realized this was a bigger deal and they realized the people of memphis would boycott the white owned business and ida b from this action taking place was moved more then she had ever felt, before when this was happening it to her culture, but now this was personal. She also came up with a speech in response to this tradegy.
Free Speech
The city of Memphis has demonstrated that neither character nor standing avails the Negro if he dares to protect himself against the white man or become his rival. There is nothing we can do about the lynching now, as we are out-numbered and without arms. The white mob could help itself to ammunition without pay, but the order is rigidly enforced against the selling of guns to Negroes. There is therefore only one thing left to do; save our money and leave a town which will neither protect our lives and property, nor give us a fair trial in the courts, but takes us out and murders us in cold blood when accused by white persons.
2011
Today we still have many people who do not
have the proper education and we are still fighting we still think about what could have been if we would have made the NAACP with white people involved but I guess further in the future we will know.
