What is a biome?

by: Jonah and Sammy

Desert biome

A desert biome has 10-13 inches a year of rain

a biome is a large area of land that animals and plants adapt to in order to sustain life

extreme climates

deciduous biome

the deciduous rainforest has high rainfall and humidity, so that plants can grow easier.

animals that live there

the main animals that live there are small rodents, foxes, coyotes, and jackals.

adaptations

Where

desserts are usually found 30degrees northern and southern ans where dry air cs down on the land.

Adaptations

animals will need water storage since there is little water, and they need sandy colored fur for the cold nights and to blend in.

Where

Since there is so much humidity, the animals that live there must need something to sustain heat. Also they should be able to climb trees to get and escape prey and have green camouflage to blend in.

The main forests are in Panama, Australia, and Costa Rica.

Animals that live there

The main animals that live there are Tree snails and Amblypigids.

Including many different typesof plants.

Tundra Biome

The tundra is one of the harshest biomes and is frozen most of the year. The main organisms found in thew tundras are caribou, polar bears, wolves, grizzly bears, and voles.

Marine biome (freshwater and saltwater)

it is the largest biome covering 70% of the earth's surface

Where are tundras mainly found?

Tundras are mainly found in Alaska, northern Canada, Scandanavia, and Siberia.

What are the main organisms in the tundra biome?

The main organisms are polar bears, artic foxes, wolves, grizzly bears, and voles.

What animals are mainly found here?

whales, dolphins, fish, octopi, squids, and other animals that live in the water

Adaptations needed for this biome

the animals need to provide warmth for themselves like fur or blubber to survive the harsh freezing weather.

Where are these biomes mainly found?

Adaptations needed for this biome

they are the oceans, lakes, rivers, and ponds.

they need to have gills so they can breathe and strong bones for animals in the lower levels of the ocean

Tropical Rain Forest

What animals are mainly found here?

Elephants, chimpanzees, snakes, parrots, toucans, and sloths.

Where is is biome mainly found?

The tropical rainforest biome is mainly found in South America, Africa, and Southeast Asia.

Adaptations needed for this biome

Some animals like monkeys and sloths are able to climb and other animals such as the leaf-cutter ant is strong enogh to carry 50 times its own weight.

This biome is one of the most complex biomes in both structure and species diversity.

Savannah biome

In order for something to be a savannah, it must rain for a little amount of time and have long periods of drought.

Taiga biome

Animals

Where

Adaptations

Animals need to be able to run fast to catch and run, light sandy skin to hide, and be able to go long periods of time without water.

Though Savannahs are all a round the world, the ones that people think most about are the ones in Africa and Australia.

Animals

There aren't many animals in this biome but there are many trees.

The type of animal depends on where you are. For example in Australia you will find kangaroo and emu, while in Africa you'll find what people usually think of as a Savannah.

The climate is very cold and swampy.
