Iris Tracey

She is known as the temptress, and popular girl at school.

In this image one can see at this low angle that Frankie is considered to be inferior to the rest of the crowd, especially Eddie. The crowd can be shown as followers that agree/accept with everything the bully and the popular girl at school does.

Frankie Gibson

He is shown as a nerd, an inferior, an outcast and an innocent individual in the opening.

Representation of Social Groups

Genre

The following are characters in our film that demonstrate different representations and archetypes in the film opening.

While deciding our genre my group and I came to an understanding that we wanted to make our audience laugh, be entertained, and also learn a life lesson in a somewhat dramatic way. As a result we choose to make a comedy drama. As one can imagine being a teenager growing up and coming of age has its funny and awkward moments that we would like to incorporate into the film. We also want to include the lessons learned when part taking in a rite of passage.

Engaging With the Audience

/

My group and I wanted to create a storyline in which one can relate to. Our target audience would be teens of ages 13 and up. In high school there is always some form of a hierarchy. There are the popular people, the athletes, the

nobodies, the nerds, etc. As our plot follows the life of a teenage boy, who has a secret identity as a YouTube star, that decides to reveal his identity in order to become popular and get the girl of his dreams. Along this journey of becoming popular,he lets the fame get to him, resulting in a drastic change of course. Our main character "Frankie" becomes his own worst enemy. Our audience can relate to this because at some point in their life they have experienced this idea of wanting to fit in, and they are willing to do anything. These people may lose themselves momentarily but will eventually find themselves again.

Developing My Production Skills

Conventions

While creating this film I have learned how to be meticulous with details. Whether it'd be choosing the genre, creating a storyline and script, deciding camera shots, settings, and actors, choosing wardrobe and props, and editing the video, a lot of work was put into the process of this film opening production.

Critical Reflection

By Danilise Diaz

Some of the typical characteristics of a film opening that we included are the following:

-Movie title, EGO.

-Director, editor, screenplay writer, and actors and actresses names.

-Introduction of characters, Frankie, Eddie, Iris, and peers.

-Background music, Pretend by I Fight Dragons

Integration of Technology

My group and I have integrated a great amount of technology into this project. We stayed in touch and communicated with each other through our mobile devices, and we shared our ideas and work through Google docs. Frank created our EGO title with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. We used a professional Canon camera for filming, and a desktop for editing with IMovie and various programs.

Distribution Process

Engaging With the Audience Continued

This whole idea of using YouTube was inspired by teenagers these days who always seem to be on the internet, especially YouTube. Many teenagers find themselves subscribing to a variety of YouTubers, becoming huge fans and supporters, and even viewing those YouTubers as role models. YouTubers tend to be able to influence their audience, and eventually their viewers will inhibit some of the YouTuber's characteristics. Frankie, the nerd/famous YouTuber, is well-known in the school he attends. Once they find out he's the guy behind the mask, everyone at school wants to be his friend because they admire his character in the videos and he's basically a celebrity.

Eddie West

He is shown as a bully, and a ruthless person filled with rage.

Social Media can be a great way to allow people access in order to watch our film opening. Our opening, which has been published on YouTube, can be distributed by postings on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. With these postings its important to make sure the audience that is viewing the video is a teenager of 13 and up. To make sure the viewers are of age, a person can post it knowing a majority of their friends are in the appropriate age group. The postings will include an image of part of the film, and a link to click on to watch the video on YouTube. These postings will be shared, and retweeted, creating a larger viewing audience.
