It would be more difficult for the student to achieve successful academically because their learning ability is slower

a child with DS could lack social development and skills because it is harder for them to communicate with their peers

A student with DS need more one on one time with the teacher

A student with DS will need modifications on assignments and tests so they can be successful in the class as well

The teacher will need to make the learning environment open for all learning abilities

Spend more time on learning the letters of the alphabet and their sounds than the other students

More time to do assignments, projects, and tests

Allow them to have their communication Ipod in class so they can communicate with other students

Mild cases of DS can allow the person to live on their own, with family, or in a group house

Severe cases may lead the person to live in a full care center

DS can make it difficult for the student to have a social life

DS could affect the family financially

Some people may not be supportive of the parents decision to continue with the pregnancy

The parents would need to devote more time to help their child to comprehend every day life

There is no specific treatment for Down syndrome. A child born with a gastrointestinal blockage may need major surgery immediately after birth. Certain heart defects may also require surgery.
