Self-efficacy is the belief in ones capabilities to achieve a goal or an outcome.

  • Students with a strong sense of efficacy are more likely to challenge themselves with difficult tasks and be intrinsically motivated.
  • Learning your strengths and applying them.

Empathy is the action of understanding, being aware of and being sensitive to another person’s feelings.

Break into groups

  • Each group/table will get assigned one famous person

  • Make a poster Illustrating who the person is, why are they famous. What have they gone through that has made them resilient. Do not forget to include at least 2 of the 7 resiliency factors that could have helped this person be successful.

For connecting and reaching out it is important to make a positive relationship with an adult, this can be a teacher, coach or any other individual.

Resiliency

An individual's ability to properly adapt to stress and adversity. Stress and adversity can come in the shape of family or relationship problems, health problems, or workplace and financial stressors, among others.

Optimism is the hopefulness and confidence about the future or the successful outcome of something

  • It consists of thinking about the glass half full rather then half empty

Emotional awareness consists of becoming aware of your emotions.

  • You always know why you are feeling the way you are feeling.

Flexible & Accurate Thinking

Impulse control

Flexible thinking is the ability to adjust to changes in routine, expectation, and thought. Being a flexible thinker means being able to see a topic or the content from a new perspective.

Impulse control is the ability to refrain from a desire to do something because you think through any consequences.

  • Positive self-talk is a key ingredient of impulse control.
  • It is important to think before you engage in any action.
