Benefits of SCP

- More convenient to people with lower budgets

- Option to film outside of original shot sequence (chronological order)

-Less crew roles being paid for

But why ?

This technique can commonly used to when trying to cut down on spending , meaning less cameras and camera operators, more intricate shot types and dynamic angles and inherently more visually interesting as it's not a static viewpoint more commonly found in a multi-camera setups for example.

Disadvantages

-Harder to record conversations

-More time consuming as apposed to multi-cam prod

Features of SCPs

Single Camera productions can come in many forms for example: Comedy Drama/ Comedy Film (The Big C - 2010), Comedy (Scrubs), Sit-com ( The Great Outdoors - 2011 TV Series)

Editing takes longer when shot by a single camera set up

Lighting and sound are both optionally aimed more to one person rather than to a group and sound is aimed differently during different shots. Also found in other camera set ups.

Scrub's Comedy Series has a linear narrative structure and consists of flashbacks to help keep a steady, interesting story-telling pace.

Single camera productions is ultimately the use of only one active camera instead of an alternative of 2 or more. This can be referred to as a Single-camera mode of production or The single-camera setup.

This means the scenes are acted out several times to capture the story from numerous angles

The Narrative takes a P.O.V method of story telling in-which the character's voice overs are an insight to their thoughts and ways of thinking

Peep Show has a consistent use of O.T.S (over the shoulder) angled shots all done with their single camera setup
