Why are people afraid to make mistakes?
Words of Inspiration
Big question
Many people, organizations, and groups are embracing the theme of learning from from mistakes to increase knowledge, understanding, and creativity.
Why are so many people afraid to make mistakes when it is proven that people learn from them?
"Take wrong turns. Talk to strangers. Open unmarked doors. And if you see a group of people in a field, go find out what they're doing. Do things without always knowing how they'll turn out. And remember that you are always making up the future as you go."
-Randall Munroe
Background
Some words of wisdom!
Ok... So basically what I mean is this,
Most people continue day to day never trying new things, never branching out of their little bubble.
Why is this?
Probably because they are afraid that if they try something new, they will fail. People are afraid of making mistakes because they don't want to make a fool of themselves or face the idea that they were wrong.
WHY!!!!???
It's like Newton's Third Law, Every action creates an equal and opposite reaction. Failure leads to success!
Here is an example of a teacher giving a Ted Talk that believes in making mistakes as a part of curriculum. Students shouldn't be expected to be perfect, and when they fail, they should get a second chance.
The D School at Stanford University encourages it's grad students to learn and create through trial and error.
Thank you Lisa for the quote.
OK, one more video..... But only because this one is just great and I couldn't resist!
