Body: Bright blue feathers with a yellow streak beneath the beak
Eyes: big and black with yellow around the outside
Feet: two toes facing forwards and two toes facing backwards
Life of a Hyacinth Macaw:
- Live in groups or pairs
- Mates for life
- Mate in the rainy season
- Lay 1 to 4 eggs
- Female will sit on them for about 1 month
- Male will bring her food during this time
- Parents work together to bring the young food
- The young stay with the parents for 1 year
What do they eat?

- Takes 10 macaws to make one headdress

- Used to be around 100,000 wild Hyacinth Macaws before 1980's
- In 1990 the population had dropped to about 2,500
- The world's captive population is much higher
