Critical Thinking Marketing Questions

Chapter 28

Marketing researchers are concerned about consumers lifestyles and attitudes because if the product they are trying to sell doesn't match up with their lifestyles and attitudes there is no point in marketing to them. Also they can increase their sales by specifically marketing to the group that does match up with the product

Why are marketing researchers concerned about customer attitudes and lifestyles?

What can be done to counteract consumers fears about invasions of privacy?

What do you think marketing research would reveal about the differences between the lifestyles of dual-income families with children and without children?

Explain what marketing research should be done by a coin-operated car wash.

In order to prevent consumers fears about invasions of privacy we could have them submit forms and online surveys anonymously. Also, we could have all their data go into a secure server, protected by encryption and security codes.

The lifestyle of a dual-income family without children would probably show a lifestyle filled with vacations. Also they would spend a lot more on themselves to live a more lavish life. A dual-income family with children would probably spend a lot more on clothing and food for the children. Also they would probably not have as many vacations and be centered around the kids lives.

A coin operated car wash should collect data like how many times it has been used; in total and also daily. It should also collect data on what time of the day it is used. Additionally, it should track how much water is used per wash.
