Russia was founded in the year 862 by the viking Rurik. He found the first Russian tribe in Novgorod. Russia had a large presence in WW2. Joseph Stalin created a pact with Nazi leader Adolf Hitler - a non-aggression pact. Russia established this because they knew Germany was becoming powerful. However Hitler broke the pact on the 22nd of June, 1941, by invading soviet-held territories. This resulted in a massive war on the Eastern Front, east of Germany between the Axis and Allies.
