Lighting:

Low lighting is the main one to give a spooky feel in dark places. This is because it makes the viewers feel uneasy and worried about what may happen due to them not being shown a lot. It is also typically known to everyone that we should be more careful when on our own in the dark so we instinctively know that something could happen. There is usually a lot of bright lights in the dark places to scare the viewers.

Objects/Tools:

In horror movies there are types of weapons used to attack..

- The butcher knife

-Chainsaws

-Hammers

-Hooks

-An ax

- Unsuspected objects e.g. nail gun or scrap mental on the side of a road

Characters:

Hero-person who saves others

The killer-either a monster or a scary figure that is known for mental serial killings

Young children-sometimes the source of evil

A woman- who is taken or abducted (vulnerability)

The unexpected character- someone who we think is good but turns evil through choice or through being touched by the evil characters

Conventions of a horror film

Colours:

The main colours that would be used in a horror film is black and red. This is because black represents darkness and death. Red represents blood, danger and evil and they are the main points that happen in a horror film to show events.
