Microorganisms: Viruses

Viruses are smaller than bacteria and they also need a living host to live.

Viruses

Viruses are not usually helpful to living organisms. Living Organisms include, animals, plants, fungus, bacteria, archaeon, and protist.

What is a virus?

Viruses can be classified as microorganisms, but they differ from a bacteria and a fungus quite a bit.

Examples of these viruses are:

  • HIV
  • The viruses that cause the Common Cold
  • Influenza

Although there are vaccines available they don't cure the virus, but they do help to prevent it.

Best precautions to avoid viruses and microorganisms:

There are three types:

  • Viruses
  • Bacteria
  • Fungus

Viruses are the microorganisms that we will focus on!

  • There is no way to avoid these

because they are everywhere.

  • Wash your hands frequently
  • Cover your mouth when coughing
  • Cover your nose when sneezing

Viruses need a living host in order to

live and survive, while other
