Overall, its time for us to be accountable for our nations health. Currently our school lunch programs aren't doing enough to provide our students with the nutrition they need to thrive. We need a way to provide our schools with food that will allow our students to grow. That's why we believe that Chipotle is the way to go. Their fresh foods are made of organic ingredients and their meats are hormone free. We believe that our students will be able to reach new academic heights when given access to nutritious and delicious foods. Students are essential elements of our future, isn't it important that we provide them with the best we have to offer?
Facts About the Current School Meal Program
- Schools supply lunches that routinely have high-sugar and high-fat foods, which makes it hard for kids to concentrate and learn in school.
- Schools often give kids food that makes them more likely to be overweight and obese.
- The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) rules dictate the minimum amount of calories, but not the maximum amount of calories.
- A study by Journal of Human Resources showed just over 11 percent of the children were overweight in kindergarten, and 17 percent were overweight by the time they'd reached third grade("Childhood Obesity").
- USDA has supplied schools with thousands of tons of meat from old birds that might otherwise go to compost or pet food. In fact, many news articles have reported that fast food companies check the meat they use more frequently than the schools (Eisler, Morrison, and DeBarros).

- Unhealthy food given to students makes it difficult for students to concentrate during class. Because of this, test scores, and ultimately the education level of Americans is slowly declining.
- Basically, we need to find an alternative that would be beneficial not only to the students, but also to the schools.
Our Solution
Because this problem has been drawn to our attention, we are happy to partner with Chipotle in their efforts to provide students with healthier school lunches. Chipotle does not use hormones in their meat, and uses organic ingredients. Chipotle also provides fresh food. We believe that defrosting food, is not cooking food. In addition, Chipotle promotes the ideal that healthy food can taste good. If we can instill this thought into students at a young age, we can lower the obesity rate and improve the health of Americans in the future.
