Adding the R to STEAM, to make STREAM is one way that STEM classrooms are connecting with the Common Core. A focus on literacy is a big component of Literacy in Science and Technical Subjects.
In addition, Makerspaces provide opportunities to research, apply mathematics in a real world setting, and persevere through challenges. Makerspaces are collaborative environments where students work together to solve problems.
