Conclusion

Being in poverty is not something that someone chooses. People that live in poverty are the same hardworking people that aren't stuggling to get by.

the high price of hotels made it hard for her to get by and even harder to look for apartments that she could afford the downpayment on

part of this was because she was also looking for a place that did not mandate a drug test

Because the market for housing was bad she was forced to look at hotels to stay in

The author was forced to look for jobs in multiple place costing her much time and gas money.

Had to stay with friends until she could find her own place to stay

had to drive across town and more than 45 minutes to search for jobs while also trying to search for places to live

And one more thing...

Always help those that are in need, because you never know when it will be you that needs help.

Traveled to Minneapolis, Minnesota for the third part of her "experiment" researching poverty across the nation.

found that her job at walmart was changing the way that she acted and thought about things in general

she taught Barbara that not only are there dangers to being a woman, but there are more dangers to being a woman in poverty.

Along the way she experienced violence and was raped. She also experinced hospitality from people in churches and other places.

The woman who did this experiment in real life

Moved from New Jersey to Queens to Florida and finally to Minneapolis along with her children. In each place she had to find a new place to live, and new jobs to support herself and her children.
