The ancillary tasks of the project are strongly linked in theme and style. The theme that links the tasks together is the unity of the band and the playful elements of group acts. The look of the piece is a highly stylized.
Firstly the magazine advert the background pattern is one used on the digipack so gives level of cross platform consistency. The image of the televisions directly behind the band is one used in the video so adds to the connection with the music video and the other media.
also the image of the band playing with the Scaletrix is one that fits with the video stylized but playfully theme.
Also the our whole digi-pack design fits in really well with our video and magazine advert because of the circle geometric patterning in the background of the digi-pack covers. This links well with the circular effect of the lighting and filming effects used in the music video. Also the circular globes of the art instillation and the shape that the globes create help to cement the relationship between the digi-pack and other ancillary tasks. the circular doors and windows echo the geometric patterning of the digi-pack as well.
Finally the music video itself has many of the same themes and techniques that are use in the ancillary tasks. for example the highly stylized images in the digi-pack and magazine advert link strongly with music videos style. This can be seen in the performance shots in the music video as the lighting of the band and the white background of the stage gives the video a highly stylized effect. Furthermore the style of both the ancillary tasks and the music video are post modern as they show the band fully aware of the camera and they involve strange non realistic images. For example, in the ancillary tasks, specifically the digi-pack, the band is depicted in traditional suits but with all except the front-man headless. This connects with the speeding up and slowing down of the footage which is also post modern as it changes the perceptions of time from realistic to surrealist . Finally in the last shot of the video the lead singer looks directly at the camera breaking the fourth wall and adding to the post modern surrealist elements of the video.
