Why go so far away when there is so much work to do at home? Sociologist Philip Jenkins writes, “Denominations are going to have to figure what to do when the bulk of the power and money is in the global North and the bulk of the people is in the global South.” We believe that, through this imbalance, God is encouraging us to make Christ-like friendships across the equator. We are mutually enriched when we intentionally pray, read scripture, and work on projects together.
